Ceramic & Wine Workshop in Lisbon | Featured by Observador
Úrsula Cerâmica Studio has been featured by the Portuguese newspaper Observador as one of the creative workshops to try in Lisbon.
Located in the neighbourhood of Penha de França, the studio was founded in 2023 by Úrsula Duarte, an architect by training and ceramic artist with nearly ten years of experience. Through her workshops, Úrsula introduces participants to the exploration of clay and hand-building ceramic techniques in a relaxed studio environment.
The Ceramic & Wine workshop is presented as a sensory experience: while learning to shape clay and create ceramic pieces, participants enjoy a selection of three wines from Portuguese producers.
The wine tasting is guided by Margarida Mendes, who introduces participants to some of the main wine regions of Portugal.

This combination reflects a shared belief that ceramics and wine have always been closely connected, a relationship that dates back to the Roman Empire, when wine was transported and stored in ceramic amphorae.
During the workshop, participants are encouraged to create two to three ceramic pieces, often inspired by wine, such as a candle holder, a cup or a plate for bottles, while keeping full creative freedom.
Each workshop lasts 2,5 hours and includes:
- all ceramic materials
- guidance throughout the creative process
- glazing and firing of the pieces
- an introduction to the main Portuguese wine regions, with a guided tasting of three wines led by a wine specialist
Once fired, the ceramic pieces can be collected from the studio or shipped by post for an additional fee (shipping quote provided upon request).
Participants can enjoy a relaxed studio atmosphere while learning pottery and discovering Portuguese wines.
