This ceramic workshop in Lisbon welcomes small groups of up to 7 participants, ensuring a personal and relaxed environment.
No previous experience is needed. During the 2-hour session you will focus on one hand-building technique such as slabs, molds, coiling or pinching. Depending on the complexity, you can create one or two pieces like mugs, bowls, small plates, serving boards, candleholders or vases.
Everything is included – clay, tools, aprons and all firings. Your work will go through the kiln twice to ensure durability. Finished ceramics will be ready for collection after around 4 weeks and can be stored for up to 6 months if you are not in Lisbon right away.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior experience in ceramics to join this workshop?
Not at all! This workshop was designed for absolute beginners as well as curious minds who just want to explore clay. You don’t need to worry about skills, techniques, or “being artistic.” The hand-building process is intuitive and relaxing — we guide you step by step so you feel confident from the very start. If you’ve never touched clay before, this is the perfect place to begin. And if you already have some experience, you’ll still enjoy learning new tips and approaches in a creative, supportive space.
What exactly will I learn and create during the hand-building workshop?
You’ll learn the essential hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab work — the same timeless methods used in pottery for thousands of years. The beauty of this workshop is that you create at your own pace: you might craft a mug, a bowl, or even a small decorative piece, depending on your personal vision. We encourage experimentation, so every piece is unique. Along the way, you’ll discover how clay behaves, how to shape and refine your forms, and how to bring your ideas to life with your own hands.
How long does the workshop last, and what’s included in the session?
The session lasts 2 hours — enough time to fully dive into the experience without feeling rushed. Everything you need is included: clay, tools, guidance from our instructor, and the cozy atmosphere of Úrsula Cerâmica’s studio in Lisbon. After the workshop, your piece will be dried, fired in the kiln, and ready for pickup (or shipping, if needed). The price covers all materials and the firing process, so there are no hidden costs. Only the shipping is extra.
Can I take my ceramic piece home right after the workshop?
Not immediately — clay needs time to dry and be fired in the kiln to become durable. This process usually takes around 3–4 weeks. Once your piece is ready, you can pick it up at the studio or we can ship it to you worldwide for an additional cost. We’ll keep you updated when your creation is finished. It’s worth the wait: you’ll end up with a strong, unique piece that you made entirely by hand, ready to use or display.
